Jeremy Scott x M·A·C
A SCOTT’S TALE
As Moschino’s Creative Director, Jeremy Scott joins a stellar line-up of M·A·C collaborators. The brand making waves globally in all things makeup tapping into an American designer of unparalleled vision, it's set to be 2018's hottest match. Jeremy tells us why beauty and why now.
What is your favourite product in the collection?
I would choose the boom box which is my Lo-Fi Eye Shadow palette. It’s so strong and bold with all of the different colours, it really makes a statement. It truly suits all of the different beauties who love and wear my clothes. Everyone’s skin colour is different and everyone’s personality is so unique that I wanted my products to represent many different moments.
What inspired this collaboration?
Music is a constant in my life. When I’m prepping for shows or dressing pop stars, I put music on and we use it as a muse to bring different visions to life. I thought I could take this idea of a makeup palette and turn it into a boom box, cassette or CD and it would pay homage to that which I find so important.
How did the design process differ from Moschino’s ready-to-wear and accessory collections?
Makeup is such an interesting product and it was so challenging for me. We created new shapes for the compacts and palettes and that’s something that takes quite a while.
What is your favourite Moschino fashion week moment or memory?
Thinking back to my last show, I was able to convince my baby Devon Aoki to come back. We were talking about how she was there with me at the beginning when she was just 13. It’s been so amazing to see our lives intertwine, she is still my muse. We’ve had such a beautiful journey together since the first moment we both burst onto the scene.
Everything you do is always so much fun, do you have a motto that you try to live by?
I guess it’s really to never wait for yourself. There was a time when I was starting out and I would tell myself things like “That’s for later when you have more success.” I realised recently that everyone needs to live their life in all of its capacities. I constantly remind myself of that.
